Summer Rain

July 11th, 2007 by alli

You’d think summer rain was the kind of unusual event you read about in books or saw in movies, but nope, it actually happens! Too bad I wasn’t awake to witness it. When we woke up this morning, the streets were wet and the clouds hugged the sky like a really depressing gray sweater. It’s July and clearly summer already. Weird weather. It might be making up for the fact that we hardly got any rain during the winter months.

Still, I hope it clears up by Friday the 13th (woooo, scary!) coz I’m going to the local county fair that day. Speaking of which, it’s sad to see that they’re shortening the period the fair runs. It used to go on for two weeks, but now it’s down to only 5 days. That’s… not a lot of time to check it out. State fair, anyone?

If I don’t make it to the fair, then I’m definitely going to go out and watch the 5th installment of the Harry Potter movie. I. Must. See. It. I miss the Philippines in times like these - I have two friends there that I watched the first three movies with. It was like tradition. They were also first on my loan list whenever I bought a just-released Harry Potter book.

I was torn between ordering the last book online or reserving it in-store. In the end, I thought HC put it best when she said she preferred reserving the book so she could pick it up in the store. Buying online meant waiting for deliveries, and sometimes those got delayed. Besides, the price is nearly the same when you add the cost of shipping.

I’m also on the fence about going to the store at midnight to get the book. There’ll be long, hellish lines but it might be worth it to see the people dressed up. It’s the last book - when will I get the chance to see another Harry Potter midnight release?
